SAN ANTONIO (AP) β€” Kawhi (kah-WY’) Leonard had team highs of 22 points and 10 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs hammered Miami 104-87 to win their fifth NBA championship and end the Heat’s two-year title run. The Heat jumped out to a 22-6 lead before the Spurs outscored them by 35 over the next 2 Β½ quarters. Patty Mills hit five of the Spurs’ 12 3-pointers and finished with 17 points off the bench.

PINEHURST, N.C. (AP) β€” Martin Kaymer (KY’-mur) has won the U.S. Open by a whopping eight shots over Erik Compton and Rickie Fowler. Kaymer closed with a 1-under 69 for a 9-under total in the seventh wire-to-wire victory in the 114 years of the tournament. Kaymer led by at least four shots for the final 48 holes and eliminated most of the suspense by opening the tournament with back-to-back 65s, the lowest two-round score in Open history.

BROOKLYN, Mich. (AP) β€” Jimmie Johnson has won the Quicken Loans 400 for his first victory in 25 Sprint Cup starts at Michigan International Speedway. Johnson led four times for 39 laps and finished just over one second ahead of pole-sitter Kevin Harvick. Brad Keselowski was third, followed by Paul Menard, Kasey Kahne (kayn) and Jeff Gordon.

UNDATED (AP) β€” France, Argentina and Switzerland won their World Cup openers on Sunday. Karim Benzema scored twice as France blanked Honduras 3-0, and Lionel Messi scored in the 65th minute to give Argentina a 2-0 lead in a 2-1 victory over Bosnia. A goal deep in stoppage-time sent Switzerland to a dramatic 2-1 victory over Ecuador.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) β€” Texas Christian and Virginia were Sunday’s winners at the College World Series. Boomer White drove in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning to give TCU a 3-2 win over Big 12 rival Texas Tech. Mike Papi hit an RBI double with two out in the bottom of the ninth to complete the Cavaliers’ 2-1 victory against Mississippi.
