CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An investigation is underway after a Charlotte fire truck and two other vehicles were struck by stray bullets in southwest Charlotte Monday morning.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department say they are actively investigating the shooting that happened around 9:20 a.m. on Clanton Road near Barringer Drive.

When officers arrived they located a Charlotte Fire Department (CFD) firetruck and a Jeep Cherokee which had been struck by gunfire.

One passenger in the car was taken to the hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, according to CMPD. According to police, no one with the Charlotte Fire Department was injured during the incident.

After an initial investigation police discovered that a third, occupied car was also struck by gunfire. None of the occupants in that vehicle were injured.

Police say they do not believe this case is an act of random violence; however, detectives do not believe the CFD firetruck was the intended target. No suspect has been located in this case.

The investigation into this case is active and ongoing.
