Sunny Skies, Warmer Highs Ahead

Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts! A strong cold front could make things interesting for the Christmas holiday.

Who’s ready for warmer temperatures? Ironically enough, our warmest day in over a week will likely arrive tomorrow for our first day of winter. After a foggy start, sunny skies and light southerly winds will fuel a noticeable warm-up into the upper 50s in the Piedmont and 40s in the mountains. The sunshine and warmer conditions should last until at least midweek; enjoy it! Things will get interesting as we head into Christmas Eve. A strong cold front will sweep into the Carolinas by Thursday, which could bring not only a white Christmas for the High Country, but also severe weather to the Piedmont. While there is an outside chance to see a few flurries on the backside of the system for Christmas, count on a mainly rain event in the Metro for now. Stay tuned!
