NEW YORK (AP) β A Swedish psychologist’s self-published picture book about a sleep-deprived rabbit has been acquired by Penguin Random House after becoming a word-of-mouth sensation.
The publisher tells The Associated Press on Wednesday that “The Rabbit Who Wants To Fall Asleep” by Carl-Johan ForssΓ©n Ehrlin will be released in the U.S. and the U.K. on Oct. 2.
Meant to lull and relax kids at bedtime, Ehrlin’s story features such characters as Uncle Yawn and Sleepy Snail and has inspired an international debate over its effectiveness.
Originally released in 2011 and translated into English last year, the book this summer soared into the Top 10 on Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com.
