Wet and Windy on Christmas Eve with a Cold Christmas Day

We will see the coldest Christmas day since 2004!

Expect scattered showers to increase overnight ahead of an approaching cold front. Rain coverage will be scattered on Thursday morning, but will increase to widespread through the afternoon as a cold front punches across the WCCB area. Isolated strong to severe storms are possible east of the Charlotte area Thursday afternoon into early evening with the threat much higher across the North Carolina coast. As rain increases Thursday afternoon, so will the winds. Expect sustained winds at 10-20 mph with gusts up to 40 mph across the Piedmont – even higher across the Mountains. In wake of the Christmas Eve cold front, we will see a BIG cool down on Christmas Day. The moisture and cold air will not meet up, therefore, no white Christmas this year across the Piedmont. The Mountains will likely see some snow Christmas Eve.
