Winter Weather Advisory for Mountains

Next 24 Hours
Waking up to a few light showers this morning. A Winter Weather Advisory in effect for the mountainsΒ until 10pm. Above 3500′ snowfall totals of 2-3″ will be possible, for areas above 4500′ we could see 4″+ of snow. The rest of the region will warm into the low 50s with a few scattered rain showers into the late morning. Clouds will clear with peeks of afternoon sunshine. Tonight lows will near freezing under mainly clear skies.
Mid-Week
Drying out with seasonable highs for Wednesday and Thursday. Sunny for Wednesday, but Thursday will bring more clouds and a few showers late in the day. Snow will be possibleΒ for the mountains as temps drop into the overnight hours.
Friday Wintry Mix
BIG STORY: Snow will be likely across the mountains and foothills Friday morning into the afternoon with a few inches of snowfall possible. South of I-40 is where the models diverge, but as of now, it is looking like we could see a wintry mix as far south as the I-85 corridor by late Friday into Friday night. That means even some wet snowflakes across the Charlotte metro area. For areas south of I-85 this will be a rain event. Things can change with this forecast, so we’ll be watching it very closely over the next few days. Sunny and dry, but cold weather will return this weekend.
