Police Search for Leads After Finding Man Buried Under East CLT Home

CHARLOTTE, NC — Neighbors are asking a man’s killer to come forward after police found him buried under his home Thursday.
Neighbors say they hadn’t seen Richard Hable since May.
A black, plastic tarp hid the grave where police found Hable under his home.
Next door neighbor Kenneth Wright tells WCCB Charlotte he had a run in with Hable in the past, but wouldn’t hurt him.
“I lost another friend, even though he knocked my teeth out,” said Wright. “With a golf club. [He was] on drugs pretty bad.”
Wright says detectives talked to him twice Thursday afternoon.
“I told the detective I would take a polygraph anytime they want to. I really would like to know what happened to the guy,” said Wright.
He watched investigators pack evidence into boxes for more than 12 hours.
“It’s one thing to kill someone, but to drag them under their house and dig a four-foot deep hole and bury them,” said Wright. “They’re some sick people, and they need to be caught.”
Police have not confirmed how Hable died.
A property manager reported Hable missing August 20.
Two weeks later, CMPD searched his home. Investigators found his body early Thursday morning.
“That’s crazy. Who would not see someone doing that, is what I would say,” said neighbor April Donaldson. “Nobody seen somebody doing something like that?
Donaldson says she saw police at Hable’s home several times.
We asked CMPD how many times they’ve been called to the home. The department hasn’t responded.
Another neighbor, who didn’t want to reveal her identity while the suspects are on the loose, describes Hable as helpful.
“He helped us out, like, if we needed a friend to help us cut our grass, cause I can’t, he’d do it.”
