CHARLOTTE, N.C. (News Release) — Harris Teeter has strongly encouraged its associates to receive the COVID-19 vaccine as soon as they are eligible and has announced that they will pay $100 to any valued associate who receives the vaccine.
Additionally, the company has worked closely with federal and federal and state government to ensure our pharmacies are prepared to accept and administer the vaccine to eligible individuals as soon as vaccine allocations are made available. Harris Teeter issued the following statement:
“The safety of our valued associates and shoppers continues to be our top priority. Since the start of the pandemic, Harris Teeter has invested significantly to protect our associates and shoppers as well as reward associates through a variety of bonuses and additional pay. To further show our gratitude and help move closer to an end to this pandemic, Harris Teeter recently announced a payment of $100 to any valued associate who receives the full manufacturer-recommended doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. Associates who cannot receive the vaccine due to medical or religious reasons will also have access to receive the payment. We are strongly encouraging all of our associates and shoppers to receive the vaccine as soon as they are eligible, and Harris Teeter will continue to do everything it can to ensure our associates and shoppers have access as soon as itβs available.”
In addition to the new vaccine payment, Harris Teeter has also taken the following actions to support our valued associates, including:

- Continuing to advocate on behalf of essential, frontline associates to have priority access to the vaccine
- Providing COVID-19 Emergency Leave to associates most directly affected by the virus or experiencing related symptoms and providing paid time off
- Requiring and supplying masks for associates and encouraging them to stay home if they are sick
- Requiring shoppers to wear masks in stores, or alternatively, encouraging the use of our ExpressLane Online Shopping service
- Providing comprehensive benefits packages, including healthcare coverage and retirement benefits
- Making funds available through the company’s internal Fred J. Morganthall Foundation which provides financial support to associates experiencing financial difficulties due to circumstances beyond their control
- Making mental health resources readily available
- Continuing implementation of customer capacity limits
- Continuing the use of safety partitions and physical distancing floor decals
