Police Arrest A Monroe Man In An Ongoing Investigation Into Local Gangs
MONROE, N.C. — Monroe Police say after acting on a search warrant at a home on Venus Street, they arrested Deon Davis, 22, for drug and weapon related charges Thursday morning.
Detectives say the arrest is part of an ongoing investigation into firearm, gang, and drug activity in the area.
Officers say on February 18th they searched the home on Venus Street in Monroe to find Davis and others in the room.
Davis was identified as the only registered occupant of the room, and also as a convicted felon, according to a news release.
Detectives say they seized an assault style rifle with no manufacturer markings, known as a “ghost gun”, marijuana, digital scales, baggies, and smoking paraphernalia from the home during their search.
Davis is charged with possession of a firearm by a felon, possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana, a dwelling for the purpose of distribution, and possession of drug paraphernalia, and is being held under a $15,000 bond, according to a news release.
“I am extremely proud of the hard work of all of our officers to take this individual into custody and take a very dangerous weapon off the streets,” said Monroe Police Chief Bryan Gilliard.
