LOS ANGELES (AP) — Prosecutors have charged “Scandal” star Columbus Short with felony battery after they say he hit a man and caused serious injuries earlier this month.

Jail records show Short was arrested by police in Claremont, Calif., on Wednesday, one day after he was charged with committing a battery that caused serious bodily harm.

Los Angeles police say the 31-year-old actor was involved in a dispute with a man at a West Los Angeles restaurant on March 15 before Short hit the man and knocked him out.

Short plays attorney Harrison Wright on ABC’s hit series “Scandal.” Records show he was released Wednesday after posting $50,000 bail.

A phone number for Jeff Jacquet, Short’s attorney in another criminal case, had a full voicemail box, and a message sent via fax was not immediately returned.
