Hearing Set For Wednesday On Release Of Body Camera Video In Deadly Officer-Involved Shooting In Elizabeth City

ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. – A hearing on the release of body camera video of a deadly police-involved shooting in Elizabeth City is set for ten a.m. Wednesday.  The family of Andrew Brown, Jr., is sickened after they say an independent autopsy shows chilling details about Brown’s death.
Nearly a week after Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Deputies shot and killed Brown as they tried to serve a warrant, the family says the results of an independent autopsy show Brown was shot five times, including once in the back of the head.
The family’s attorney Ben Crump tweeted a video Tuesday saying it shows the militarized police force rushing to kill Andrew Brown.  Local civil rights activist and Pastor Raymond Johnson traveled to Elizabeth City Monday to meet with the family.  An Associated Press photographer captured an emotional image of Johnson when he learned only a 20 second video clip would be allowed for the family to view.  That photo was featured on the cover of USA Today.
“I felt we were bamboozled and deceived because they promised us one thing, and we didn’t get nothing but a 20 second video,” says Pastor Raymond Johnson.
“Yesterday I said he was executed.  This autopsy report shows me that was correct,” says Khalil Ferebee, Brown’s son.
Governor Roy Cooper says a special prosecutor should handle all matters in this case.
