CHICAGO (AP) β A night after losing their home opener, the new-look Cleveland Cavaliers are on the road tonight for their first meeting with Central Division foe Chicago. The Bulls are projected to be one of the top two or three teams in the Eastern Conference with the Cavaliers being one as well. The Cavs and LeBron James lost their home opener last night to the Knicks 95-90.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) β In the NFL game last night Drew Brees ran for a score and passed for one as the Saints beat the Panthers in Charlotte, North Carolina, 28-10. The win moved the Saints ahead of the Panthers in the NFC South. The win snapped a seven-game road losing streak for New Orleans.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) β Florida State, the nation’s second-ranked team, rallied from a 21-point deficit to beat Louisville 42-31. The win is the Seminoles’ 24th straight and gives FSU a record of 8-0 this season. The loss dropped the Cardinals to 6-3.
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) β Qualifying is taking place this evening for Sunday’s Sprint Cup race in Fort Worth, Texas. The Texas 500 is the second in the third three-race Chase round. The championship field will be cut from eight to four after the Phoenix event next week, with race winners earning spots in the Nov. 16 finale in Florida.
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) β The second round of the PGA event taking place in Malaysia is over. Billy Hurley III made six birdies on his front nine en route to a 5-under 67 that gave him a two-shot lead over fellow American Kevin Streelman. This is an event that is jointly sanctioned PGA Tour and the Asian Tour.
