CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Some tropical trouble may be brewing right in our backyard. As of the 8:00 PM update on Sunday from the National Hurricane Center (NHC), an area of low pressure only a few hundred miles away from the Carolina coast has a 50% chance of development over the next two days. The latest satellite observations estimate a core wind speed of 35 mph, just four units short of tropical storm strength. If it were to strengthen further, it would receive the name “Danny.”
Fortunately, regardless of development, the fledgling system is not expected to bring any widespread impacts to the WCCB Charlotte viewing area. That said, a few stray showers and storms in its outer bands may roll into communities south of the Metro Monday night into Tuesday afternoon. Stay tuned for more updates as they come in.
