Cooler, Wetter Start to Workweek

While no single day ahead will be a complete washout, most communities should pick up at least an inch of rain through midweek.

The incessant summer sizzle that we’ve seen for the better part of July continued into the first half of the weekend, but some (mostly) welcome changes are coming to the forecast. A rainmaking system to our west will continue its slow march into the Carolinas, bumping up both rain chances and cloud coverage through midweek. Of course, this will lead to below-average temperatures over the next few days, as highs may struggle to clear 80º in the Piedmont while the Foothills and High Country settle with the 60s and 70s.

It’s looking increasingly likely that the incoming front will stall out over the eastern portion of the WCCB Charlotte viewing area, which should still be enough for cooler air to arrive, but it won’t bring any drier air along with it. High humidity values will persist throughout the week as rain chances diminish by next weekend. While no single day over the next three will be a wash, most communities can count on roughly an inch of rain with locally higher amounts through midweek.
