Violence Interrupter Program Launches In Beatties Ford Road / Lasalle St. Corridor
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Local leaders are taking new steps to curb violent crime in Charlotte.
After more than a year of planning, a “violence interrupter” program is launching in the Beatties Ford Road and Lasalle Street corridor.
It will be a team of about five people, out on the streets five days a week.
They’ll work to build relationships with the community and resolve conflicts before they turn violent.
The program is currently funded for one year at a cost of $500,000.
If it works it could be expanded to other parts of town.
