Cases Of RSV On The Rise

A new warning for parents tonight…health care workers say cases of RSV are on the rise.

As life is getting back to normal more cases of respiratory syncytial virus are popping up.

Health officials say children under 3-years-old are more likely to develop serious symptoms including difficulty breathing and dehydration.

Luckily, health officials say you don’t need to be worried if your child gets sick.

Dr. Vrushali Patwardhan with Novant Health Pediatric Lake Norman says “We live in a world that viral infections are just getting to be a common fact of life. So, wait and watch. And, do the best you can with hand washing and masking.”

Officials say most children, particularly those 2-years-old and older, don’t experience complications from RSV.
