Fox Tests Positive For Rabies In South Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A rabies alert will be sent out to residents on or near Seneca Place in Charlotte at 7 p.m. Wednesday night, after a fox tested positive for rabies in the area, according to CMPD Animal Care and Control.

Officials say three domesticated animals and one human experienced exposure to the rabies infected fox on August 18th.

This is the 9th animal in 2021 to test positive for rabies in Mecklenburg County.

Officials remind pet owners that North Carolina rabies law requires all owned cats, dogs, and ferrets to be vaccinated against rabies by four months of age.
