
WADESBORO, N.C. — Authorities have identified the second body that was found in an Anson County funeral home. According to Wadesboro Police Chief Thedis Spencer, the medical examiner’s have identified the body as that of Henry Thomas Garris. Detectives say he died November 23, 2011.
On June 4, officers found two decomposing bodies in the F&M McLendon Funeral Home. The first body was quickly identified as Marshall Lee Allen. The second body remained unidentified until late Wednesday afternoon.
The former director of the funeral home, Mary McLendon-Brown, was convicted in June of obtaining property by false pretenses. Authorities say she failed to take a body to a crematorium after taking money from family members. Police found both bodies after McLendon-Brown told authorities where one of the bodies was.
Authorities say the bodies were there at least two years.
The investigation is ongoing and new charges against Mary McLendon-Brown have not been determined at this time. She remains in prison.
