Heavy flooding in northeast Charlotte caused by intense rain and storms Thursday morning resulted in the Charlotte Fire Department having to rescue over 140 people from a charter school that had to evacuate.
Massive flooding has been reported throughout WCCB's viewing after several inches of rain was dumped on the Carolinas late Wednesday evening into Thursday afternoon.Β Β
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Emergency Management Office, Charlotte Fire Department, and Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department will hold a virtual media briefing Thursday to update the public about the flooding across the area.
As a result of deteriorating weather conditions and flash floods in the Charlotte area, the University will move to Condition 1 (reduced operations) effective immediately and until further notice.Β Avoid travel by vehicle or by foot during this time, and be aware ofΒ possible road closures.Β
