Born in England and a resident of Charlotte since the 8th grade, Wilson pairs his dry British humor with a fun-loving attitude of the South. In short, he likes Fish, Chips, AND NASCAR.
2016 will mark over 20 years of broadcasting in Charlotte, 12 of it at WCCB-TV. You can also find him on two of the biggest HDTVβs in the world at Charlotte Motor Speedway & Texas Motor Speedway during major events.
Some may remember him on the radio at WBT 1110am, 1065 The End, or on 99.7 the Fox and also for many years with the Charlotte Checkers Hockey Team.
His specialty? Making people laugh. βApplause is almost mandatory,β he says. βIf you can make people laugh, you are really doing something.β
His most memorable shows at WCCB-TV would have to be rapelling 35 stories down the side of the VUE building uptown for Special Olympics, and skydiving into Symphony Park at SouthPark on Memorial Day with the Golden Knights.
One of his favorite moments was MCing the mascot game at halftime of Monday Night Football with the Carolina Panthers, and also being on stage at the first Super Bowl pep rally at Trade & Tryon, leading thousands of fans in βLetβs Go Panthersβ
His family donβt go on vacations..they take βadventuresβ and if you ever meet him ask about spending a week in Cleveland..or cooking breakfast with Mickey at Disney..he has good stories! Heβs on the Charlotte advisory board of the USO of North Carolina. Heβs a big supporter of the Second Harvest Food Bank, American Red Cross, Salvation Army and also Hands on Charlotte.
In 2012 he was named βBest Local TV Personalityβ by Creative Loafing
In 2011 he was named the βGood Neighbor of the Yearβ by the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the American Red Cross.

Wilson was at the J. Murrey Atkins Library on the campus of UNC Charlotte enjoying the collection of pictures, architectural plans and drawings from the 50s, 60s and 70s of Charlotte donated by LaBella Associates.
Wilson enjoyed a cup of morning coffee while at Queen City Grounds this morning previewing the upcoming Pour Coffee Festival.
Wilson was at Pike Nurseries in Ballantyne this morning where he was receiving tips on how to freshen up his yard and garden and even inside his home this spring.
Wilson was outside of Spectrum Center this morning where he was giving out free tickets to tonight's Charlotte Hornets Retro Night, but there was an ear piercing catch.
Wilson was at Hidden Valley Elementary School with Promising Pages to see how the students will be celebrating National Read Across America Week.
Wilson was AT C3Lab in SouthEnd this morning giving us more info on this year's ArtPop Street Gallery which brings art outdoors where artists can showcase their craft to thousands of people each day.
Wilson is with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra as they rehearse for a weekend of performances including a special composition marking Charlotte's 250th anniversary.Β
Wilson was checking out everything at The Southern Spring Home + Garden Show at The Park Expo.Β The event will take place February 22nd-24th and March 1st-3rd.Β Β
