CHARLOTTE, N. C. – Wilson was at Randolph Middle School where a group of boys who were on the track getting in a little running practice ahead of their Springfest 5K Run next weekend.
This boys are a part of the Let Me Run program. Let Me Run is just getting started in the area, but is growing throughout the country. It was created for boys from the 4th through 8th grade to combine exercise with teamwork while finding their own identity. The program is available for all kids, regardless of financial situation, with scholarships available. The boys can also have fun and learn more at the more intense Let Me Run summer camp.
Wilson talked with staff from Randolph Middle School as well as some of the kids who are part of Let Me Run. The boys talked with Wilson about their participation in the program and how much they enjoy it and what they are learning from their teamwork.
Rising’s own Derek James is a coach with the group and actually suggested Wilson meet the boys. Derek talked about the group and how important it is to him to coach his group of boys at Irwin Academic Center and be a part of Let Me Run.
