CHARLOTTE, N. C. – Wilson was with some very opinionated kids at Community House Middle School as they were working on their Berlin Wall project. Not only did Wilson learn a little more about history, but he also learned a lot more about the younger football fan.
Wilson talked with Justin Ashley, 8th grade Social Studies Teacher and 2013 History Teacher of the Year, who is the creator of the Berlin Wall project. He got the idea to recreate and redesign the Berlin Wall not only to teach the students about the wall, but also to get the students outside and moving around to help them shake their end of year exam anxiety.
Kids who are participating in the project talked with Wilson about the project and what they have learned. He also talked with a parent volunteer who has been volunteering at the school about why she enjoy being a part of the education process.
But the best part of today’s show was the “war of the football fans.” All in good fun, of course.
