Police ask for public’s help identifying armed robber

CHARLOTTE, N.C.– The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying an armed robbery suspect.  

Police say a man robbed High Life Smoke Shop on Central Avenue around 12:39 a.m. Friday.  They were told that the man entered the business, implied that he had a gun and then robbed the business.

Police say the suspect then fled the business on foot and went to the Family Dollar located on Central Avenue and purchased white t-shirts.  He then changed into a white shirt, according to police.  

The suspect was last seen headed west on Central Avenue.  

Police describe the suspect as a black male with a thin build, approximately 5’5″ and 150 lbs.  He was initially seen in a red plaid shirt, blue pants, a baseball cap and wearing a brown backpack before changing into a white t-shirt.

Police believe he is armed and dangerous.
