Arrest Made After Shots Fired Outside Northlake Mall

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police say they arrested the man who fired shots outside Northlake Mall on Labor Day.

Investigators say Antonio Gaines fired shots in the parking lot of the mall Monday.  Once police arrived on the scene, officers located evidence of the shooting but they were unable to locate a suspect or victim.

Antonio GainesInvestigators determined the two people involved in the shooting were known to each other and had been involved in prior altercations that ultimately led to the shooting in the mall parking lot.

Police arrested Gaines Thursday at a residence on Pine Street.  Police say they found two handguns and rifle ammunition inside the home during a search.

Officers also arrested Timothy Hines, who was also inside the residence on Pine Street, and charged him with probation violation and possession of a firearm by a felon.

Gaines has been charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
