Wilson’s World: Y Readers Program at Hidden Valley Elementary School
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It may be summer, but that doesn’t mean that kids can’t keep learning. Wilson was doing a little “campfire” reading with some of the kids at Hidden Valley Elementary School where they were participating in the Y Readers Program. Wilson talked with teachers, volunteers and kids about the program and how important it is for children to not get behind during their summer vacation.
Y Readers is the YMCA of Greater Charlotte’s nationally recognized literacy program that serves rising first through third grade students. The mission of Y Readers is to provide the additional support that students need to be proficient in reading by the end of third grade.
