Wilson’s World: Previewing the Centennial Celebration for Camp Greene
This Saturday Camp Greene celebrates the 100th anniversary of the World World I Training Camp.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – This Saturday, July 15th at 10:30am a bugler will sound reveille kicking off a day of events for the Camp Greene Centennial Celebration. Wilson was at the Dowd House at Historic Camp Greene previewing the events for Saturday while learning more about Historic Camp Greene and the Camp Greene neighborhood.
The Camp Greene Centennial Celebration will include a tour of the Dowd House, a parade, food tents, music, military displays and more. The American Red Cross will be exhibiting uniforms and memorabilia. The event which begins at 10:30am is free and everyone is invited to stop in.
Established as a military training camp in 1917, Historic Camp Greene has now developed into a community containing parks, restaurants and family homes.
