Coneweed Helps Local Child Battling Brain Tumor
Cornelius, NC — You may remember Coneweed, the construction site weed that gained attention online when people started decorating it for Christmas.
Now, a Cornelius family is getting a full Christmas because of it: Cornelius Police Office Capt. Jennifer Thompson and Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Thompson.
Their four-year-old son, Jace, is fighting a rare and aggressive brain tumor called DIPG. Capt. Thompson says doctors diagnosed him four weeks ago, and the prognosis is grim.
“We would appreciate prayers of healing for Jace. I just need my baby,” said Capt. Thompson.
Huntersville Fire Department raised $20,000 through Coneweed. The fire department says this will help the group Hope Match to assist more than 100 families with a full Christmas.
“We are humbled by the support and graciousness from people, most of whom are strangers to us. Eric and I don’t want any attention on us, rather all attention focused on Jace and his healing,” said Capt. Thompson.
