March Madness A Family Affair In Charlotte
Charlotte, NC — Try getting caught up in a sea of North Carolina University fans after a win.
March Madness is in basketball country.
“It was so amazing!” said Bridgett Hayes. “I decided to come back Sunday!
“Yes! You didn’t tell me that!” said her family member, Debra Leake.
It’s a family affair for a lot of Charlotteans.
“This is my son visiting from New York,” said Leake. “He’s from New York. He’s a tar heel. I got a baby tar heel right here,” she laughed.
People were crawling through Uptown for rom fall over the country Friday.
“Charlotte’s actually a really cool town,” said Kevin Wynn. “It’s actually my first time here. My buddy is from here. He’s a big tar heel fan. I’ll definitely come back to the city.”
“Oh, I love it having it in our town!” said Wes Jackson. “I think it’s sac sacrilegious we had the ACC tournament in Brooklyn, New York, you know?”
Last year, the city lost the tournament over controversial House Bill Two.
Now, it’s back, bringing thousands of fans to the Queen City.
“This is good for Charlotte,” said Bobby Sihpanya. “It’s good for the economy. It puts us on the map some more. This is not the only show in town. We got the Panthers, too. So, we got the Hornets, Panthers, now we got March Madness. So, this is great for our city.”
