Man Seriously Injured After Tractor Trailer Crash That Caused Power Outage, Expect Delays

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A driver of a tractor trailer is seriously injured after his truck hit a low hanging power line in southwest Charlotte early Tuesday morning.

CMPD says the crash that happened around 4:20 a.m. brought down several power poles at the intersection of Westinghouse Boulevard and Steele Creek Road and left a man with a broken leg.

After hitting the power line, the driver of the tractor trailer got out of his vehicle and was hit another by another car that was passing by. He was transported to CMC Main for treatment, according to Medic.

Drivers should consider avoiding the intersection as it is closed in three directions.  All traffic is being sent south onto Steele Creek Road.  Northbound on Steele Creek Road past Westinghouse Boulevard is closed and is expected to cause major traffic delays.

Police repairs could take several hours.

Because of the power outages, officers are directing traffic at several intersections including  I-485/ Arrowood Road and Brown Grier Road/ Steele Creek Road.
