The funeral for volunteer firefighter Dakota Snavely is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 16 at Anderson Grove Baptist Church, 2225 East Main Street, Albemarle, N.C.
FF Snavely lost his life in an accident while responding to an emergency call early this week on Sunday, June 10.
The procession with Snavely’s remains is returning from Raleigh today and is expected to pass by East Side VFD Headquarters sometime between 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
ESVFD headquarters are located at 44604 Highway 24/27 in Albemarle, N.C., approximately 40 miles east of Charlotte.
STANLY COUNTY, N.C. — A volunteer firefighter with the East Side Volunteer Fire Department lost his life in the line of duty on Sunday night.
Firefighter Dakota Snavely had just left a friend’s house near Oakboro to respond to a water rescue in Morrow Mountain State Park when he was tragically killed in a car wreck.

“With a sad and heavy heart East Side ask for prayers for the family of member Dakota Snavely. We also ask for prayers for his fire family. Firefighter Snavely lost his life in a vehicle accident on the evening of June 10th, 2018. He had left a friends house near Oakboro and was headed to Morrow Mountain State Park for a dispatched Water Rescue. We are working with state officials, and treating this tragedy as a LODD ( Line of Duty Death) East Side members may meet at the Station tonight at 7PM (normal meeting time) and any supporters may as well.
