Health Officials Urge Caution As Heat Wave Hits Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC — Doctors are reminding people to take the heat seriously this week because it can be dangerous for some.

Parents are taking the kids to splash parks around town and people are still working outside.

“If you are, particularly, exercising, and you feel I’ll but you just keep pushing through it. Then, it can have life-threatening effects,” said Dr.

Christopher Griggs with Atrium Health. Tuesday, people were out jogging, biking to work and playing basketball outside.

Firefighters fought a fire on Hovis Rd. Tuesday. Maintenance workers kept the city running.

Medic worked eight heat-related calls since Sunday.

So, here are your heat stroke signs:

“You’re feeling dizzy, nauseous, you start having muscle cramps, those are early signs,” said Dr. Griggs. “Late signs would be if you start being confused, you’re not making sense.”
