Upcoming CityLYNX Gold Line To Impact Center-City Charlotte Commutes

CHARLOTTE, NC – Since the start of the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 streetcar project, construction has primarily occurred in the Historic West End, Elizabeth and Gateway section of Uptown Charlotte.

Construction is now progressing as these construction elements now move into Center City Charlotte. A series of westbound/outbound West Trade Street road closures will go into effect starting Tuesday, July 10.

Road closures on West Trade Street, stretching from approximately Caldwell Street to I-77, will be on-going through the duration of the project.

Phase 2 of the CityLYNX Gold Line streetcar project, which is slated to open in 2020, will continue significant underground and above-ground construction over the next 18 months.

All businesses and residences will maintain access. Pedestrian access will also be maintained along much of West Trade Street.

Motorists who regularly drive Trade Street are advised to plan their trip ahead.

Information, including local access maps and detour maps, for these upcoming road closures (and subsequent closures) can be found on the CityLYNX Gold Line Phase 2 road closure website.
