Crews: Two Weeks To Fix NC Flood Damaged Road

STATESVILLE, NC — Drivers in Statesville will be dealing with flood damage for a least the next two weeks, according to the NC Department of Transportation.

That’s how long crews expect it to take to fix a massive sinkhole on Old Mocksville Rd.

People are cleaning up from the Mountains to the Foothills after weeks of rain and flooding.

”Just amazing how it came through so fast and just came so rapid to build up,” said Connie Crider.
Crider lives on Old Mocksville Rd.

“We were just amazed we got through,” said Crider.

The DOT says it is closed from Chestnut Grove Rd. to Dunlap Gate Rd.

Log Rd. also washed out in Statesville. Iredell County Emergency Management says nearly 40 people who live in the RV camp ground were stranded Thursday night. Rescuers asked residents if they wanted to evacuate. One woman decided to leave for the night.

In Watauga County, Jaybird Aerials took drone footage of flooding. Guy Ford Rd. was impassable as rain fell Friday afternoon. The Watauga River West of Boone is still high.
