Cleanup Continues After Tanker Spills 9,000 Gallons Of Fuel In Northwest Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC — Mount Holly Road at I-485 is expected to remain closed through midnight while crews continue cleanup from an earlier accident.

Around 12:30pm Wednesday, a gas tanker carrying 9,000 gallons of fuel overturned on Mount Holly Road at I-485. Charlotte Fire Hazmat crews responded to the area and have been working for several hours to contain and clean the spill.

Officials say one person was evaluated at the scene and another was taken by Medic with minor injuries.

According to the NCDOT, the area is expected to remain closed in both directions until midnight. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
