Wilson’s World: Jack-O-Lanterns and Halloween Fun at Harris Teeter

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  It’s Halloween and Wilson is getting into the spirit at Harris Teeter in South End where he was carving pumpkins with a princess and trick-or-treating with adorable young kids.

The group had their own pumpkin carving/decorating contest this morning with the winner having $1,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank in the name of the winner as part of Harris Teeter’s  Harvest Feast.  During the month of November Harris Teeter will kick off their annual Harvest Feast and will be asking their shoppers to join them in helping to fight hunger by donating at the checkout to help Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina.  Shoppers can also donate non-perishable items in the lobby of their local Harris Teeter store.

There are over 527,000 people in our region living at or below the poverty line. Over 188,000 are children at risk of going hungry every day. SHFBM serves 19 counties in North and South Carolina striving through education, advocacy, and partnerships to eliminate hunger by the solicitation and distribution of food. They provide a regional distribution warehouse and branches that supply food and grocery items to charitable agencies that assist people in need. They provide training, technical assistance and hunger education to our partner agencies.
