Wilson’s World: Restocking the Shelves at Classroom Central and their “ClassVROOM” Mobile Free Store

CHARLOTTE, N.C. –  Wilson has visited Classroom Central frequently through the years and this morning he was back at their warehouse on Wilkinson Blvd giving us a look at the new ClassVROOM Central Mobile Free Store and talking about the supplies that are needed to re-stock the free store and the mobile free store.

The  ClassVROOM Central Mobile Free Store delivers essential items to the high-poverty schools that are geographically further from Classroom Central’s free store to reach more teachers and students.  This mobile store has all of the same school supplies that are available in their central warehouse.

The mission of Classroom Central is to give students who live in poverty the school supplies they need to succeed in the classroom.  Classroom Central covers schools in Charlotte Mecklenburg, Gaston, Iredell/Statesville, Union, the City of Kannapolis, and Lancaster, SC.  During special “shopping” days during the month teachers who are in eligible school can come in and “shop” for free school supplies.

Classroom Central really needs composition books, #2 pencils, erasers, crayons, markers and even glue sticks.  Donation hours are Monday – Thursday 8am until noon.  If you can’t make it by during those hours, give them a call (704-377-1740) and they will schedule a time for you to come drop your items off.   They are asking the public as well as companies to help them out.

To find out more about Classroom Central and how you can help go to their website at classroomcentral.org.  Classroom Central is located at 2116 Wilkinson Blvd in Charlotte.

And don’t forget, they always can use volunteers at Classroom Central.  Be sure to check out their website for volunteer opportunities.
