Wilson’s World: Visiting the Isabella Santos Foundation at the Community Blood Center of the Carolinas

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Wilson was in Ballantyne this morning where he was visiting the new Community Blood Center of the Carolinas and the new Isabella Santos Foundation Center.  The new Ballantyne center was opened in October to make it easier for south Charlotte blood donors to come by and donate.

The Isabella Santos Foundation is named for young Isabella Santos who was diagnosed in 2007 of neuroblastoma.  Thanks to donors she was able to receive blood and platelet transfusions that gave her 5 more years of smiles and memories.  Her legacy continues through the foundation and their fight to help other children with cancer.  More information on the Isabella Santos Foundation can be found at their website isabellasantosfoundation.org.

During the holidays for each blood donation made at CBCC  a child at Levine Children’s Hospital will receive a stuffed puppy to brighten up their day.  The Puppies for Patients Program has been a part of CBCC since 2005.

Wilson made friends with Kona, a great rescue dog with Halfway There Rescue.  Find out more about Halfway There at their website halfwaythererescue.com.
