Hundreds of People Living at Lake Arbor Apartments to be Forced Out

CHARLOTTE, NC — Hundreds of people living at a West Charlotte apartment complex are being told they have to move out. The owner of the Lake Arbor Apartments plans to “rehabilitate” the complex after months of complaints about poor conditions.

WCCB Charlotte has reported on resident complaints for months about mold, broken air conditioning units, and rats at the complex off Tuckaseegee Road.

Now, according to a letter to City Council members — the owners, working with City Code Enforcement have agreed to “vacate the housing units over time.”

People in 78 units whose leases have expired or are no longer valid have to leave within 30 days. Others have to be out by the end of the year.

WCCB Charlotte reached out to City Code Enforcement, but were told they aren’t commenting right now.
