The arriving firefighters found multiple houses under construction, which were actively burning. The firefighters requested more resources and began a defense attack on the fire to keep it from spreading further.
Officials say six of the 13 lots that contain homes at various states of construction are complete losses with very little of the structures remaining. A seventh house received significant damage and several buildings across the street from the destroyed homes suffered minor to moderate damage from radiant heat.
Representatives from Mooresville Fire-Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office, Mooresville Police Department, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal are investigating the origin of the fire.
