Man Wanted For Murdering Girlfriend In Lancaster Now Wanted For Ballantyne Homicide

The CMPD is asking for assistance locating 41-year-old Derrick  McIlwain, who is wanted for the November 7th, 2019, murder of 45-year-old Alvin Fletcher.

A murder warrant has been issued for McIlwain’s arrest and detectives believe he may be in North Carolina, South Carolina, or the Atlanta, Georgia area.

McIlwain is also wanted for murder in Lancaster, South Carolina.  Investigators say he killed his girlfriend, Kimberly Alger.  Her body was found behind a vacant mobile home off Spirit Road in May.  Click HERE for more details on this case.

The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Alvin Fletcher.  The CMPD says they are seeking a person of interest who was known to the victim.

CHARLOTTE, NC — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department says they are investigating a homicide after a man was found dead inside his Ballantyne area home.

The incident occurred just before 4pm on Paperbark Circle off of Providence Road West in south Charlotte.

Police say a 45-year-old man was found dead of apparent trauma inside of a Maple Crest Townhome. Police won’t say how he died.

A person of interest, who investigators say was an “invited guest” at the victim’s home, is being sought by police. Police say the man and the victim had a “preexisting friendship”.

Police say there’s no threat to public safety. Regardless, neighbors are taking precautions.

“Little uneasy. Doors are being locked tonight for sure,” says Ballantyne resident Austin Williams.
