Under Pressure: Trump Tries A Different Tone More Than 24 Hours After Deadly Capitol Chaos

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – More than 24 hours after the deadly Capitol assault, President Trump is finally condemning the violence and agreeing to a peaceful transition of power. He released a video statement Thursday night in which he called the attack on the Capitol “heinous.”

It comes as more members of the Trump administration resign, and as federal prosecutors are looking into Trump’s role in inciting the rioters who stormed the Capitol. There are calls from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to remove Trump from office, which has House Speaker Nancy Pelosi talking about impeachment.
