CHARLOTTE, NC —Β CMPD is investigating a fatal crash in the University City Division.
On Sunday, December 1 around 8:30 pm CMPD officers, Charlotte Fire Department and MEDIC responded to the intersection of University City Blvd. and N. Graham St. in reference to an accident with injury involving a moped.
When first responders arrived, they located 82-year-old Dashrathlal Shankarlal Barot, lying on the roadway with life-threatening injuries.
Officers located a moped a short distance away. Mr. Barot was transported to Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center.
Mr. Barot was not wearing a helmet during this incident.
On January 6, 2025, Mr. Barot was pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained during the collision.
Next of kin has been notified of his death.
This is an ongoing, active investigation.
