Snow falls for the third time this season in Charlotte metro

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Snow flakes fell from the sky for the third time this season in Charlotte in total the city has seen about an inch since December. In the winter of 2023 and 2024, there was no measurable snow in the Charlotte metro.

“Real snow is maybe three or four inches when you see the plows going on the streets, it’s completely, completely whiteout but hasn’t hasn’t been like that in too long and this is a nice lighter snow,” Seth Felber, Charlotte Resident said.

The taste of snow dusted trees and cars Wednesday afternoon, but it did not stick. The last time Charlotte saw snow was about a quarter of an inch in January of 2022.

β€œIt seems like it’s getting a little colder this time of year with actually more snow falling. I went to school in [North Carolina] too so about a couple of years ago, a huge snowstorm. But this seems to be a little bit worse with the wind and everything going on. So definitely a different feel,” Tucker Gilbertson, Charlotte Resident said.

The winter weather was enough to close down schools and businesses Wednesday. Some are even planning to open late Thursday.

It’s hard to tell whether we will see snow again this year. Back in the 80s, snow fell in April in Charlotte.
