Record Breaking Warmth with extreme Fire drought conditions

70s late weekend

Thursday and Friday keep the heat cranked up around here, and it’s going to feel much more like early summer than spring. We’re talking upper 80s to near 90 both days with plenty of sunshine and very little in the way of relief. It also stays quite dry, so that elevated fire danger isn’t going anywhere.

As we head into the weekend, not much changes at first. Saturday stays warm and dry with highs still running well above average. Saturday will be the apex of the heat with highs near the mid 90s in spots. By Sunday, a cold front finally moves in, but it’s not all that impressive. Moisture is pretty limited, so while a spotty shower is possible, most areas won’t see much rain to help with the dry conditions.

The bigger impact from that front is the cooldown. Behind it, temperatures settle back into the 70s for next week, bringing a more seasonable feel and a nice break from the stretch of near-record warmth.
