More rain chances this week

Tracking returning rain chances

Sunshine and comfortable air is moving back into the viewing area thanks to a back door cold front. This means tomorrow morning will be chilly with lows in the upper 40s for most. Mostly sunny skies with highs in the low to mid 70s will dominate your Monday before unsettled weather once again approaches on Tuesday.

An active jet stream to our west bringing storms to the Plains looks to finally make it to the Carolinas on Tuesday and Wednesday. While the severe weather threat won’t arrive, scattered showers and temperatures near 70 look likely on Tuesday. By Wednesday, a more impressive batch of rain looks to work in with temperatures once again in the low 70s for highs. Total rain amounts look to be in the range of half an inch to an inch before sunshine returns on Thursday.

Dry weather looks to once again dominate the end of the week, but expect temperatures to be much cooler than previous weeks as a north wind brings a spring cooldown. This lasts through the weekend, with Saturday looking especially chilly as many may not make it to the 70s. This comes as a coastal low pressure once again may bring rain, but currently confidence is low.

As welcome as the rain is this week, this will be far from eliminating our drought. Because of that, statewide burn bans remain in effect for both Carolinas until further notice!
