Rain and storms continuing through the afternoon
Chilly early morning lows Friday
*Charlotte has had 1.83″ of rain making this the biggest rain event since August 2025 (8 months)*
Keep the umbrella close by today as it’s a soggy setup through mid afternoon. Rain chances stay high all day, and we could even mix in a few rumbles of thunder at times. With clouds locked in and rain-cooled air in place, temperatures won’t move much, topping out in the low to mid 70s at best.
On top of what’s already fallen, we could pick up another half inch to maybe three-quarters of an inch before it’s all said and done. That means a lot of spots will end up with over an inch of much-needed rain from this system.
As the front passes through our region temperatures fall into the low 50s, and it will be much cooler heading into Friday.
The payoff comes just in time for the weekend. By Friday morning, there could still be a stray sprinkle around, but skies will quickly clear out. We’ll turn mostly sunny with cooler, less humid air settling in, and highs in the upper 60s to low 70s will feel really nice.
As we head into the weekend, the good weather sticks around. Saturday looks dry with a mix of sun and clouds and comfortable temperatures. By Sunday, we warm things up a bit more with plenty of sunshine and a really pleasant spring that feels perfect for any outdoor plans with mom!
The only issue is we are watching our next storm system that will enter late evening into the start of next week. Stay tuned!
This weeks drought monitor has very little change. Expect improvements next week!
