Victim identified in early morning deadly double shooting in east Charlotte

Gilberto Gomez–Ruiz, 27, has been identified as the victim of this deadly east Charlotte shooting. This investigation remains ongoing.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Police say one person has died after a double shooting in east Charlotte. It happened just before 2:00 Wednesday morning on Dunlavin Way off Eastway Drive.

Officers arrived to find two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. MEDIC pronounced one of them dead at the scene. The other victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

There’s no word on any suspects.
