San Antonio, TX – Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl returned to regular duty this week, six weeks after being freed from Taliban captivity. Army officials say he has been assigned administrative duties for a unit at Ft. Sam Houston in San Antonio, TX.
Now that Bergdahl has completed his reintegration process he is seeking counsel from well-known lawyer Eugene Fidell. Fidell will represent the former prisoner of war as the Army continues to investigate how and why he left his post in Afghanistan before he was captured.
Although the Army has conducted much of the investigation into Bergdahl’s disappearance before he was captured, they have yet to hear directly from from Bergdahl himself. Now that he has returned back to regular Army duty he will meet with Major General Kenneth Dahl, the man appointed to lead the investigation, within the next two weeks.
According to U.S. Army regulations the General has about a month left to present his findings to the Army and make recommendations on whether Bergdahl should face criminal charges.
Army officials had said that a family reunion could be arranged for Bergdahl any time he asks for it; however Bergdahl has not requested to see his family or friends.
