ASHBURN, Va. (AP) β Colt McCoy remains on pace to start for the Washington Redskins after taking all of the first-team snaps in the final major practice of the week.
Coach Jay Gruden said Friday that McCoy still needed to see a specialist to get a final clearance to play. McCoy sprained his neck in the fourth quarter of the 24-0 loss to the St. Louis Rams.
Gruden said McCoy had “no issues whatsoever” at practice. The coach indicated the visit with the specialist was more of a formality to make certain that McCoy’s neck can withstand the punishment of an NFL game.
Robert Griffin III will start if McCoy isn’t cleared to play.
