BOONE, N.C. — The Town of Boone Public Works Department announced Wednesday morning that a boil water advisory has been issued for the Town of Boone.
The Town of Boone experienced a water main break along King Street, nearby Earthfare grocery store, around 3 a.m. resulting in the advisory. The street has one traffic lane closed as the water main is being fixed but it is anticipated to be reopened by 3 p.m.
The break has caused a water system pressure loss throughout the entire town which has resulted in the Boil Water Advisory is issue.
Officials are advising all water consumers to boil water used for human consumption (including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation) or use bottled water.
Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be present in the water, according to a news release.
The Town of Boone is strongly urging the water consumers to conserve water whenever possible. The advisory remains in effect until further written notification is issued by the Town of Boone.
